Four Types of Life Insurance
Each one solves a different problem. Here is the plain-English version, and we can talk through which one fits your situation.
Term Life Insurance
Covers a set period, often 10, 20, or 30 years, for a level premium. If you pass away during the term, your beneficiaries receive the death benefit. Term coverage builds no cash value, and renewal and conversion options vary by carrier.
Whole Life Insurance
Permanent coverage that stays in force for your lifetime as long as premiums are paid, with a level premium and a cash value that grows over time. Premiums are generally higher than term, and guarantees depend on the policy.
Final Expense Insurance
Smaller policies, often between $5,000 and $25,000, intended to help with funeral, burial, and final medical costs. Many are simplified-issue with a few health questions rather than a full exam.
Indexed Universal Life
Permanent coverage with flexible premiums and cash value credited partly by an index, subject to caps and floors. Cash value is not directly invested in the market, and policy charges can affect how it grows.
Benefits, eligibility, underwriting, and pricing are determined by the carrier. This page is general education, not a guarantee of coverage or approval.
